Strike Syllabus Week 9

Week 9: Racism, Security, and Capitalism in Covid Times
Week 9’s presentation pulls together several threads to look at pressures COVID-19 is exerting on capitalism and governments. The presenters, Thomas (he.him) & Eugene (he.him), will be going over how pressures of austerity, limited social welfare nets, the search for endless profits at the expense of human life, and continuing xenophobia to mask limitations of the state coalesce to exacerbate our present conditions. They will also show how the momentary stoppage because of COVID-19, is moving toward bullshit that will affect individual rights (including privacy), global relationships, and the continuing deterioration of the working class, all of which we’ve seen before (e.g. post-9/11, post-2008 recession).
