Creative Grade Striking:
Starting Solidarity Among Your Students

Facilitated by Hannah Ademy (UC Davis)

In this workshop, I'll share how I facilitated discussions and projects about grades and grading as a teaching assistant for a class on the Broadway Musical during UC Davis's Winter Quarter 2020. Additionally, I'll present collective songwriting, music making, and musical prompts as tools to encourage students to think otherwise. I'll model how to collaboratively write a "class song" as another example of building solidarity and addressing isolation among students. And then most importantly, we will create something!

Hannah Adamy is a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at UC Davis. She is and has been a band coach for Girls Rock Camps in Denver and Chicago.
