Creative Demand: Cops Off Campus Teach-in

Facilitator: Blu Buchanan (UCD)

Safer communities have more resources, not more cops.

Blu Buchanan will (UCD Sociology) will be talking about how the police have insinuated themselves into education, the popular myths they deploy, and why a better, safer world involves a cop-free campus. This is an extension of the work done by #DisarmUC, a Black-led coalition of organizers and scholars looking to dismantle the grip police have over our respective communities. We'll talk about the general history of policing, their particular history across the UC system, and why having cops off campus makes a safer living and working environment for all.
